The Story Behind The Name
Share
They say the best things come in small packages... and I couldn’t agree more. 🌸
If you’ve ever received a gift from me, you’ve likely heard me say the same thing as I handed it over: “Oh, it’s just something small.” For a long time, I thought of that phrase as a way to keep things humble. But as I began my journey with Something Small Hawaii, I realized that "small" was never about the value—it was about the intimacy.
Big Intention in a Small Gift
The truth is, even when a gift is small in size, I believe it should be big in intention. In our busy, fast-paced world, there is a quiet power in the details.
There is an old Hawaiian proverb, or ‘Ōlelo No‘eau, that resonates deeply with my work:
"‘Ike ‘ia nō ka loa i ka li‘ili‘i." (Greatness is found in little things.)
This wisdom reminds us that you don't need a grand gesture to share a grand sentiment. A single flower, preserved at the height of its beauty, can hold as much aloha as a giant bouquet.
From Garden to Magnet
Every bloom I press and every magnet I create is a piece of my heart. My process isn’t fast, and it isn’t mass-produced. It starts in the soil of a local garden, tending to the plants as they grow under the Hawaiian sun.
I believe that true aloha is found in these delicate moments:
-
The Picking: Choosing the perfect bloom at the perfect time.
-
The Presentation: The customized packaging for each set to ensure it's quality remains perfect, along with an info card so you may learn something about the flowers.
-
The Pouring: Hand-sealing each petal so it can live on your fridge or desk for years to come.
A Slice of the Islands
When you buy one of my magnets, you’re getting more than just home decor. You’re getting a tiny, vibrant slice of Hawaii. It’s my way of sharing the spirit of the islands with your home or office—a small reminder to breathe, appreciate the beauty around you, and remember that the most intentional gifts often fit in the palm of your hand.
Thank you for supporting my dream and letting me share my passion with you, one tiny bloom at a time.
